Scout (scout.authright.com) is operated by Authright. This page explains what we collect, what we use it for, who processes it, how long we keep it, and what you can do about your data.
Scout is in a public test. We collect only what we need to run the service and improve it.
1. What we collect
- Account: your email address, when you signed up and when you last used Scout.
- What you submit: your idea, the context you add, attachments you upload (PDF, TXT, Markdown) and your follow-up questions.
- What we generate: reports, follow-up answers, and the public web pages fetched and archived during an analysis.
- Your feedback: ratings and reactions on reports, survey answers, and evidence you flag.
- Usage: when you start an analysis, open a report, open a source or share a report, to improve the product and measure retention.
- Technical data: IP address and browser information. We use your IP address to prevent abuse (for example, limiting how often codes are sent) and to work out which country or region you are in.
2. How we use it
- To run the service: logging in, generating reports and answers, and sending login codes and report-ready emails.
- To prevent abuse and keep Scout secure: rate limits, blocking disposable email addresses and bulk sign-ups, and checking your region.
- To improve the product: we look at usage and feedback in aggregate. Our team can view reports and what you submitted, only to fix problems, improve report quality and handle your requests.
- We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.
3. Who processes it
These providers process some of your data so that we can run the service:
- Anthropic: reports and follow-up answers are generated by Anthropic’s Claude models through the API, so your idea, context, the text of your attachments and your questions are sent to Anthropic. Under Anthropic’s commercial terms, content sent through the API is not used to train its models. During an analysis the model writes search queries based on your idea and runs web searches.
- Amazon Web Services (AWS): our server and data are hosted in AWS data centers in Ohio, USA.
- Resend: sends login codes and notification emails, and processes your email address and the email content.
- During an analysis our server visits and archives public web pages. Those sites see our server’s address, not yours.
- Region checks use DB-IP’s offline database (IP Geolocation by DB-IP), queried on our own server; your IP address is not sent to them.
4. Cookies and local storage
Scout uses one login cookie, valid for 30 days, to remember that you are logged in. There are no advertising cookies and no third-party analytics.
An idea you have typed but not submitted is kept temporarily in this browser tab (sessionStorage) and is gone when you close the tab.
5. How long we keep it
- Your account, what you submit, reports and feedback: until you ask us to delete them.
- Login codes: valid for 30 minutes and single-use.
- IP records used for rate limits: deleted after two days.
- Server access logs: rotated, with old entries overwritten as the logs fill up.
6. Sharing
Anyone with a temporary share link you create can see that one report until the link expires. Anyone you send an exported file to can see it.
7. Your rights
You can ask us at any time to access, export, correct or delete your data, or to close your account. Email chen.wang@authright.com and we will usually respond within 7 business days.
8. Age
Scout is meant for people aged 18 and over.
9. Changes
If this policy changes in an important way, we will update this page and tell you by email or on the site before the change takes effect.
